So you read my previous post (Irrevocable) and you’re like
“Thank God I can always come back when I sin”
And then you’re at the same time feeling
“But it shouldn’t be OK to keep sinning”
And you’re thinking
“Why does this feel so good and yet feels so wrong?” “Why is God confusing us?”
Well, God is not an author of confusion. He can’t confuse us
GOD HATES SIN!!!
God cannot behold sin. He hates sin. When we read through the Bible, we see that at every given point where sin was among the children of God, God frowned at it.
As a matter of fact, in the old testament, sin always brought terrible consequence(s) on the offender(s)… and that’s exactly God ’s reason for sending Jesus: to put our relationship with sin to death.
“The wages of sin is death” God doesn’t want us to die. Jesus came that we might have, live and enjoy life to the FULL.
In the same vein, God knows that our dust clothing called flesh will always want to get in the way. For our flesh is an enemy of God, always in a constant battle with God.
“…the mind of the flesh— with its carnal
Thoughts and purposes—are hostile to God;
For it does not submit itself to God’s Law,
Indeed it cannot”
Romans 8:7 (AMP)
Hence GOD’S GRACE not us.
BUT GOD’S GRACE IS INTENTIONAL
God’s Grace is the force that helps us overcome the flesh… our flesh, and though Grace is a free gift, we have to, willingly, accept it.
God’s Grace and Jesus are inseparable. God’s Grace knows its mission. When it invades a heart, it’s intentional to reveal only Jesus… nothing sinful, nothing against the standards of God… only Jesus.
GOD HATES SIN, BUT HIS GRACE WILL CONTINUE TO ABOUND…
There’s no question as to what God thinks of sin. God hates sin (I actually can’t say this enough), but God cannot change His nature because of us. His Grace will continue to abound, whether we deliberately decide to continue in sin or we hate sin and just looking for a way out of it. As a matter of fact, His Grace abounds much more, when we’re deliberate… when the sin is more.
“… but where sin increased and abounded
Grace (God’s unmerited favour) has
Surpassed it and increased the more
And super-abounded”
Romans 5:20 (AMP)
That’s God’s template and it can never change, whether we like it or not… whether we take it for granted or cherish it.
God knew exactly what He was getting Himself into. He knew people will deliberately decides to joke with His Grace, and use it as an excuse to continue in sin, but that wouldn’t change anything. He loved us already… in FULL. He remembers we’re just dust. He understands that it is only the devil that can make a man want to continue in sin. He knows what eternity holds for anybody that crosses into it unsaved. He knows that His unconditional love is the only thing that is strong enough to be patient for what we are.
Yet, His desire is that we don’t have a connection with sin anymore. He doesn’t approve of sin.
Galatians 5:24 (AMP) tells us who we really are:
“Those who belong to Christ Jesus,
The Messiah, have crucified the flesh—
The Godless human nature—
With its passions and appetites and desires”
We are the ones that have crucified the Godless human nature. We are the ones that have lost the passions, appetites and desires for/of sin.
WE ARE WHAT THE WORD SAYS, NOT WHAT WE FEEL
If you’re like me, most times when you read truths from the Bible, you feel like “can I do that?” “I wish I can be that” or “how can I do that?” because the Bible is most times far away from our experiences in reality. But you see, the Bible is the Living Word, and it does not speak about our physical reality, it speaks about our reality in Christ, and our reality in Christ is who we really are. All we need do is believe God’s word, stir it up and live it.
It doesn’t matter how we feel, believe the truth: when we accepted the offering of Jesus, our flesh (the Godless human nature, along its passion, appetites and desires) was crucified, so we have ALL it takes to BE and DO ALL the Bible says we can BE and DO.
HEART CHECK ALERT!!!
Now, if you’re very comfortable to continue in sin… God’s Grace abounds much more for you. NOTHING CAN EVER CHANGE THAT. God loves you like crazy! He cares about you like He cares about His children… and His heart is out to get you out of sin, because He knows you’re helping the devil play a dangerous game with your soul.
See what this dangerous game looks like:
1.you might be going to church, doing things for God, but you might not have acknowledge that you’re a sinner, decide to accept the offering of Jesus and God’s forgiveness, decide to turn away from your sin, and have a willing heart to live for Jesus… in a very simple sentence: you just might still be an unsaved person.
Or
- you’re very, very, very… very ignorant about what your salvation entails… and you can trust that in this state, you’re definitely living out of God’s will for your life.
You see, salvation introduced us into a relationship (a love relationship), a relationship that unfolds as a journey (a loving journey).
So let’s create pictures with words: being a child of God and not caring about your sinful nature is like you deciding to go on a journey with someone. So you’re all packed up for the journey, you’ve arrived at the meeting spot… and then, you just don’t want to start the journey. The person is saying:
“Can we go now?”
And you’re like
“Nah. Let’s just chill at the park a little longer.”
So, you’re all packed up for the journey, you’re at the takeoff point, but you’re not moving… you’re not getting started on the journey, yet you don’t want to go back home.
Honestly though, what will you think of someone in this condition??????? More importantly, how will this affect the order party????
UNTIL THIS SIDE OF ETERNITY FADES AWAY… GOD’S GRACE IS SURE WAITING ON US… AND IT CAN’T GET TIRED, FRUSTRATED OR ANGRY, NO MATTER WHAT WE DO…
On the surface level, this truth seems to want to favour the devil and our flesh. No! It is for our victory. It is a truth that holds the power to free us from our flesh. God didn’t do it for the devil, He did it for us, to enable us have a beautiful love relationship with Him.
You see,
It doesn’t matter what you feel, truth is:
